All data centres have the highest levels of physical security that
should be expected of a Tier 1 ISP data centre.
Security features at the London Level 3 data
centre Include:
Access to Building:
The BSG Hosting Services facility in
London EC1 is a highly secure gateway and hosting facility, with
access controlled by Level 3 security. All access is via the main
entrance with human verification by security guards. BSG collocation
customers are provided with a number of permanent passes to enable
authorised staff to enter the site as required. Non-permanent pass
holders and third party engineers will need to clear BSG and Level
3 security before proceeding.
Access to
Suite:
Access to the BSG suites is via a full access control system,
based on proximity cards, corresponding PIN keypads and biometric
palm scanners. An intruder detection system protects escape and
rise doors. Access records are stored in the event the records are
required for non-repudiation.

Access to cabinets
Each BSG Hosting Services cabinet has an individually settable
combination lock and key, with the additional security of a cabinet
ceiling. The cabinet doors have a special mesh that restricts view
of the content whilst allowing air to circulate freely.
Monitoring
The BSG London EC1 facility has
CCTV monitoring and recording of all access points and circulation
areas. The building monitoring system operates around the clock,
24x7 and provides local monitoring and logging of environment alarms
and conditions. This is linked through to a critical alarm, repeating
to the Level 3 London RMC (remote management centre), with full
perimeter under-floor leak detection linked to the building.
